My favorite chemist confessions product is the Aquafix. I have really dry skin. I've tried everything. This has been my routine staple. Comes in this lovely gel texture. Used as the first step after cleansing. My favorite chemist confessions product, even though they're all my favorite, the double play. It's great for both face and eye area. My two favorite products are Aquafix and The Specialist. I love using these two together. I do have combination skin. I usually focus on my forehead, my nose, as well as my chin. We wanted to pack a highly efficacious level of all these great hydrators, pack it all into one soothing gel formula, and Aqua Fix was born. Probably the reason why it's such a bestseller for us is that all skin types use it their way. So for example, I'm oily, acneic, and this comes in clutch because it doesn't weigh down my skin. I don't actually need much after this. I'll just finish with a sunscreen. On top of that, with my acne topicals, it just makes my skin feel less angry. I am very, very, very dry. This is my essential layering piece. I use it like a soothing serum. I mix it with my actives when I want to introduce new ones. I just, you know, morning and night, Aqua Fix. It's just the greatest sidekick to any active journey if you're using retinols or a higher level of AHAs. I think that's why our fans love it.

As someone who has really dry skin, I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that dry skin people cannot use chemical exfoliants. But the reality is, a really nice, gentle chemical exfoliator can keep your skin hydrated. We looked on the landscape and we feel like there just isn't a product that the PHA gluconolactone and lactic acid just is. But we cannot do this alone, because even though Gloria has dry skin, she is a bit of an acid queen, and I have oily, acne-y skin. So we ended up polling our chemist confessions community for those that deal with redness, sensitive skin, dryness, or just had a really bad AHA experience. To join in on this PD project, they helped decide the final prototype, which you see here. 30% gluconolactone, the PHA, and 15% lactic acid. Which sounds like an intimidating level, but rest assured, you have all instructions in front of you, and our community can back that it is gentle and effective. So, we're very proud of this formula. Hey y'all, today I'm going to show you how I use chemist confessions with my combination skin. So I start off with cleansing my face with Blink Slade. I love this stuff because it's pH balanced, which means that it doesn't strip my skin. I'm a pretty messy face washer, so I got water literally everywhere. I'm going in with the Aqua Fix. I love this as a moisturizer. It's super lightweight and I mix it with the gold standard, applying it everywhere except around my eyes. Right now I'm going to be going in with Double Play, which is a face and eye retinol, but I'm just going to be using it around my eyes today. Just pat it on like that and I'm done.

We're cosmetic chemists and let's talk about glycolic acid today. Woohoo! Number one, it's commonly perceived as not very gentle, however, this is where concentration matters. So if you're sensitive, try starting at a much, much lower level. A 5% is a great place to start. You can also think of this as more than a chemical exfoliant because at much higher concentrations you're thinking of the 30% level. It can even fight fine lines and wrinkles. You just want to think about it as different ways of using it. For daily maintenance, target 5-10%. For that higher level of efficacy for your fine lines and wrinkles or even hyperpigmentation, use a 30% glycolic rinse-off mask once a week. to keep around the specialist from chemist confessions it's 18% mandelic acid, 2% salicylic acid, and 5% niacinamide. Salicylic acid is known to help with exfoliation. It's a beta hydroxy acid that has an oil soluble characteristic to it so it can actually get into pores and keep them clear from within. Whereas mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid kind of like lactic and glycolic acid and if you follow my page you know how much I love it. Due to its molecular structure it's a little gentler on sensitive skin than lactic and glycolic and it also has a slight oil soluble characteristic to it kind of similar to salicylic. So when you combine that with salicylic acid magic happens. It also has 5% niacinamide which can help a little bit with oil control. And though mandelic acid is a little gentler than lactic and glycolic 18% is still a really high level. I actually just apply this as a mask almost and then rinse it off after like 5 to 10 minutes. Hydroxy acids can also be great for everyday use just like I said not at 18% probably. So what I actually like to do when it's that time of month that I'm a little more acne prone is I just take a drop of the specialist and mix it in with my moisturizer. And I just use that as my everyday moisturizer.
