Founder Story

Esker was launched in 2018 by Shannon Davenport. After a decade of working in New York City as a trend forecaster, where she helped major corporate brands shape their identities based on her research across beauty, design, art, and consumer trends, she decided to launch Esker as a way to act on her own ideas and build the brand she wanted to see in the world. She knew she wanted to create a brand with integrity and honesty as its cornerstones, and to make clean, safe products that nourish the body and elevate the way we care for it.



As she discovered the benefits of plant-based beauty and bodycare, she fell in love. She enrolled at the New York Institute of Aromatherapy where she received her certification in aromatherapy and became a NAHA Aromatherapy Advocate. She soon realized that the beauty industry didn’t seem to be taking the clean movement seriously, and that bodycare was consistently an afterthought. Around the same time, she became pregnant with her first child and became even more aware of her body and its need for a product that was safe to use while pregnant, filler-free, non-greasy, and--most importantly-- relied on the power of plants to nourish skin. 


Esker was born right around the same time as Shannon's little one, and she introduced the line with three custom-crafted body oil formulas aimed to celebrate the diversity and power of essential oils, and to function as a necessary step in any body care ritual. She pulled from a versatile range of plants to create a restorative, clarifying, and firming oil, each one carefully formulated with responsibly-sourced ingredients to nourish skin from head to toe. 



By leveraging high quality, natural essential oil formulations that are beneficial to the skin, Esker aims to transform simple body care routines into meditative rituals that heal, restore, and hydrate skin. 


Esker is carefully crafted in the US. Our family operated business was created in Los Angeles and the brand is now based in Austin.

Back to the beginning:
Brothers Tyler and Braden Handley founded Inkbox back in February 2015. Like so many other twentysomethings, they were thinking about getting tattoos but weren’t totally sure what they wanted. Their styles, tastes, and opinions were constantly changing. They wished there was a tattoo that could change with them.

After countless long nights of research and several (failed) science experiments in the kitchen of their tiny apartment, they learned about something that sounded promising: a fruit grown in the forests of Panama. Locals were already using it to dye their skin!

So they packed their bags and hopped on a plane to meet with the Darién Initiative, an organization that worked with the indigenous people of Panama’s Darién Gap. With the help of this initiative—and the incredible tribes within the region—the Handley brothers tested the fruit-derived ink that would eventually evolve into our For Now Ink™. We no longer use the fruit in our ink’s formula, but while we did, the Darién Initiative ensured we were harvesting it sustainably and giving back to their community in meaningful ways.

Fast forward to today. A patented tattoo technology. A team of over 100 employees in Toronto, Canada. More than a million tattoos shipped to customers in over 167 countries around the world. We know that every tattoo we ship out tells a story, and we’re so grateful that we can help support and celebrate the story of you.

Our materials and packaging come from sustainable, as local as possible sources, our boxes are made in the US, and are recyclable. Our shrinkfilm - is an oxo-biodegradable film fully decomposes within 2-3 years. Tooletries began four years ago with the belief that a bathroom should be man's sanctuary. A place for calm and serenity. A place free from chaos and disorder. It was an ideal that was shared, initially between two siblings, but has since grown to be shared amongst men (and women) across the globe. In other words, Tooletries is built on brotherhood. And, whilst we've grown and a lot has changed, our passion for designing grooming tools for our brothers will never end.

Back in 2012 our daughter Savannah (a then persistent 11-year old) insisted we create an online store for her to sell her homemade lip balms and sugars scrubs that would help pay for her traveling soccer fees. It was a 'cute' idea we thought . . . little did we know what was about to happen.

Before we knew it, we were traveling to tradeshows nationwide selling our high-end beauty line to resorts, boutiques, grocery chains, gift shops, hospitals, casinos, florists and online retailers.

We pride ourselves on using high quality ingredients and keeping everything as natural as possible. We believe this, along with our wonderful scents and variety, keep customers coming back for more!

Oh, and to make things even better - everything is handmade in the good ol' U.S.A. We are located in Wenatchee, WA which is located in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains.

Feeling frustrated and let-down by the extent of the damage we have done to our environment, two friends - Rishi and Pawan - went in search of answers. While the markets are changing slowly, they noticed that many products that are eco-friendly are given a luxury label. They also found that many products sold under the “eco” label tend to stretch the definition of sustainability. Thus they decided to start their own journey to produce truly sustainable, beautifully designed, ethical and vegan essentials at affordable prices.

And here we are!

We want to do more than just make beautiful eco-friendly products. So we are going to make the most transparent, ethical, sustainable goods company on earth. Opening up our supply chain fully for everyone to see. To show that there is a nicer way to do business. Hopefully this will inspire other businesses to do the same.
