The Ordinary

French pins. If you don't know what a French pin is, it looks like that. These are metal. And you're gonna stick it in, bend it up, so you're grabbing some of your hairs at the root, shove it through, kind of like the bottom part of the bun, bring it back down, and then shove it through. And that's pretty secure, actually. But I like to take another one and do the same thing on the other side. Stab it, wiggle it through, and the bun is not going anywhere. It's super secure. It's super comfortable. You could sleep like this. You could just wear it out. That's it.

Okay so it says wrap your hair in a high or low bun and secure it with the KEH French pin. Wake up in the morning, release the pin and shake out your hair. Finish it up. Wait so you can sleep with this in your hair? Interesting! I'm always trying to figure out something for the hair overnight. Okay. At first I thought I did it and like. Okay. We'll try once more and then we'll definitely watch some YouTube videos because I definitely want to get some use out of these, see if I can even do this. I'm not really good at wrapping my hair in a low bun to begin with. No. Okay. Be honest. Be honest. Doesn't look bad. I said be honest. Definitely tricky. A little bit annoying because I can feel it wobbling. Oh and there she goes. I want to figure these out.

These are French pins, also known as hair forks. They used to intimidate me, but after some practice, they've become my favorite hair accessory. This set from Kristen S comes with two matte black metal pins. They're ergonomically designed with a bend to be comfortable on the scalp and gentle on the hair. I find having a little texture in the hair definitely helps the styles hold better, so if my hair's a little too soft, I'll start with some dry shampoo before styling. When first inserted, the curve of the pin needs to lay against the head. Once through the hair, the prongs are pushed against the head, and the direction of the pin is switched back towards where it was inserted. All of these hairstyles look super skillful, but it's actually a very simple technique, and once it's learned, it becomes like muscle memory in the hands. The pins are so chic on their own that they really take the pressure off of perfecting the hairstyles, and personally, I aim to style in the category of elevated messy, and all of these styles can be dialed a little less or more in each direction to preference.

I couldn't resist, man. I got one more accessory from Kristen Esks. I was so excited, but look at these. It is the star and moon set. Star has just the little clasp on it, which I love, like it's so easy. You can put it like, put it in a little bun. And it's so much cuter, right? This has just the little claw clip. Screw it, right? So cute. Imagine if I actually had put effort into my hairstyle. But that's the really cool thing about these. I feel like they can really dress up something super simple or I could wear these to a wedding or something. I am obsessed.

going to see if I look okay with this knotted headband. I used to be really big into headbands, now I pretty much only wear it for like my skincare, like beauty stuff. It's like thicker than the headbands I used to wear, but like I don't know if I'd wear it out. Maybe I'll wear it, I'm hanging out with my best friend today, maybe I'll see if she thinks I look like a cuckoo pants. But I feel like headbands are nice for at least skincare and this is like sturdier than, you know, spa headbands because they're all like fabric usually and they kind of like low-key pull on my hair a little bit. So I might use this just like for my skincare, so I don't know. I kind of think it's cute, but I don't know if I like it on me. I don't like this. This is the weird thing about headbands. I want to wear it like this, but then I look weird and my hairline is weird. How do I get a new hairline? Cute.

Couple words about this super cute hairband by Kristen S. When I saw this hairband, I had to purchase it because it's so me. I'm in love with animal prints. What I love about this hairband is not only the print, but the lightness. It is super light. It doesn't squeeze in here. It's not too tight in here. You know, sometimes hairbands are so tight down there, so they give you headache. It doesn't give you headache because you literally don't feel it on your head, which is incredible. And it looks super cute. Just look at that. I think I'm gonna wear it pretty often because it's one of the most comfortable headbands I ever had.
