# 2 - Spot Remove Stains
If there is any dirt stains, urine, etc, try using a spot removal. It will be easier to atatch these stains before washing. Do the same thing on the insert.
#3 - Place in Washer
Remove cover for bed and wash cover only or tinys can be placed completely into washer. (same goes to all other products)
Wash with cold water.
Pour a capful of mild detergent into the water, then add a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. The vinegar is a very effective deodorizer, it is much cheaper than most commercial products, and most importantly, it is also safe for your dog.
When choosing the detergent to use, make sure to pick a pet safe detergent. Harsh commercial cleaners can be very irritating to a dog’s skin, and some can even be toxic.
Be sure that the soap you choose does not have any harsh or toxic chemicals. Here is a list of chemicals you should avoid
- Bleach
- Chlorine
- Fragrance additives
- Petroleum distillates
- Nonylphenol Ethoxylates or NPE
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Diethanolamine
- Formaldehyde
- Perchloroethylene
- Phthalates
- Phenols
Pet stores offer dog friendly detergents and cleaners, which should be free of these chemicals. Use these to clean a dog bed rather than harsh, toxic cleaners
#4 - Dry
NO HEAT!
Place your bed in the dryer on NO HEAT or air dry.
