Highlighted Ingredients
GABA:
- Found in: Fish, shellfish, sprouted whole grains, potatoes, seaweed, noni fruit, berries.
- Form: Gamma-aminobutyric acid
- Benefits: GABA enables the body and mind to relax, fall asleep, and sleep soundly throughout the night. Low GABA activity is linked to insomnia and disrupted sleep. GABA also plays a role in your body's immune system and regulates appetite. Low GABA levels can result in anxiety, stress, depression, difficulty concentrating, insomnia, restless legs, and headaches.
- Function: GABA is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter because it blocks, or inhibits, certain brain signals and decreases activity in your nervous system. When GABA attaches to a protein in your brain known as a GABA receptor, it produces a calming effect. This can help with feelings of anxiety, stress, and fear. We use GABA to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and sleep deeply.
5-HTP:
- Found in: Turkey, chicken, pumpkin, sunflower seeds, turnip, collard greens, and seaweed.
- Form: L-5 hydroxytryptophan
- Benefits: 5-HTP is the precursor (meaning it’s needed to make) to serotonin and melatonin. Melatonin-based sleep formulas build up in the body and stop being effective. By giving your body the building blocks, like 5-HTP, you have a better sleep response without negatives of building up melatonin. This nutrient helps support improvements in insomnia, depression, anxiety, weight loss, fibromyalgia, and migraines.
- Function: 5-HTP is manufactured from the seeds of an African plant, Griffonia simplicifolia. We use 5-HTP to support the production of brain chemicals that regulate the sleep cycle for a deeper, more productive sleep.
L-Glutamine:
- Found in: Chicken, fish, cabbage, spinach, tofu, lentils, beans.
- Form: L-glutamine
- Benefits: L-glutamine has a calming effect and counteracts symptoms of stress. This is a key ingredient that may be missing if you can’t relax or fall asleep.
- Function: We use L-glutamine to balance out our sleep system with this calming, relaxing amino acid. Step one of sleep is relaxing and calming the body to prepare it for sleep. L-glutamine supports that process and chills you out for a good night’s sleep.
Vitamin B6:
- Found in: Chickpeas, yellowfin tuna, tofu, avocados, brown rice, hazelnuts.
- Form: Pyridoxine hydrochloride
- Benefits: Helps reduce pain and the inflammation of arthritis. It is crucial to the processes that improve mood and reduce depression. It promotes brain health, helps support the creation of strong blood cells, helps reduce the symptoms of PMS, promotes a healthy heart, and supports eye health.
- Function: We include pyridoxine hydrochloride because the body cannot produce it, and it must be obtained either through diet or supplementation. Consuming adequate amounts is vital for optimal health and function.
Magnesium:
- Found in: Pumpkin seeds, Swiss chard, dark chocolate, black beans, quinoa, halibut, almonds, mackerel, avocado.
- Form: Magnesium citrate
- Benefits: Magnesium is a vital mineral, playing a role in over 300 reactions in the body. Magnesium helps convert sugar, fats, and proteins into energy. That means it is key to metabolism and any weight-loss program, whether Keto, Atkins, South Beach, vegan, vegetarian, or a balanced calorie restriction program. Magnesium helps to build a strong and healthy immune system, boosts exercise performance, and reduces the pain and inflammation caused by lactic acid from workouts. Magnesium promotes regular and healthy bowel movements, supports healthy blood sugar levels, and has benefits against type-2 diabetes. Magnesium promotes a healthy heart and supports the regulation of blood pressure. It helps with restless legs, cramps, and sleep difficulties and also helps turn off the mind and fight depression.
- Function: The key to any shake or supplement is how well it digests and absorbs. We include magnesium citrate for clean magnesium, which easily digests and absorbs.
Vitamin B1:
- Found in: Fish, lentils, green peas, sunflower seeds, and yogurt.
- Form: Thiamin hydrochloride
- Benefits: Vitamin B1 is one of the most important nutrients to support phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification in the liver. Without B1, your body will become a toxic waste dump. B1 (thiamin) also plays a major role in metabolism and the production of energy. Anyone deficient in B1 will be tired, overweight, weak, and energy depleted. Additionally, B1 supplementation has shown to lead to better sleep patterns and reduced fatigue upon waking.
- Function: B1 absorbs easily and immediately goes to work on jump-starting the detoxification process and helps support your metabolism for a fast increase in energy production.
Vitamin C:
- Found in: Kakadu plums, acerola cherries, rose hips, persimmons, papayas, chili peppers, guavas, black currants, thyme, mustard, spinach, kale, kiwis, lemons, lychees, strawberries, oranges, broccoli, and leafy greens.
- Form: Calcium ascorbate
- Benefits: Vitamin C is vital for detoxification, a strong immune system, a healthy heart, and fast injury repair. Vitamin C is essential in any cleansing formula because your body cannot produce it. Vitamin C has been proven to help in many ways. It may:
- Boost immunity
- Help with lustrous skin
- Reduce risk of chronic disease
- Help manage blood pressure
- Lower risk of heart disease
- Reduce gout attacks
- Protect memory and thinking as you age
- Function: We use calcium ascorbate for its easy absorption into your body, muscles, and the immune system.
Vitamin B5:
- Found in: Avocado, chicken, beef, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, broccoli.
- Form: d-calcium pantothenate
- Benefits: B5 is vital for energy and metabolism, both key to a good night’s sleep. B5 helps us to relax, reduce anxiety, relax muscles, ease tension, sleep more deeply throughout the night, burn calories, and boost up those energy levels for a strong and vital mood upon waking.
- Function: We use d-calcium pantothenate to create a perfect combination with our other sleep nutrients to help you stay asleep throughout the night.
Calcium:
- Found in: Milk, yogurt, cheese, almond milk, soy milk, dark green leafy vegetables, fish with bones.
- Form: Calcium gluconate
- Benefits: Calcium is a natural sleep aid that especially helps with falling asleep. Calcium is vital for relaxing your muscles and calming you down as you try to head off to sleep.
- Function: We use calcium gluconate to maximize easy and fast absorption into your body. You can actually feel it absorbing and the soothing effect it creates. Some studies show that inadequate calcium levels disturb the sleep pattern, reduce REM sleep, and cause you to sleep restlessly with waking up and having trouble falling back to sleep. The more easily calcium absorbs, the better effects it will have on your body.
Valerian Root:
- Found in: Valerian root is an herb
- Form: L-glutamine
- Benefits: Valerian root is the earth’s natural sedative. It has a calming, relaxing, and stress-reducing effect. Some call it the natural alternative to Xanax and Ambien. Valerian has been used for thousands of years in Asia and Europe for the treatment of insomnia, sleep disorders, anxiety, nervous tension, and stress. It has a mild sedative effect, causing a calming and relaxation of the body for a great night’s sleep.
- Function: We included Valeriana officinalis as the final calming effect in our Sleep+ formula. Sleep+ is used to give your body a deeper quality sleep when things are extra stressful or overwhelming. Valerian helps support a beautiful deep sleep.
What else you need to know
What makes Sleep different than any other formula?:
- Most sleep formulas include Melatonin as the main ingredient.
- Anyone who has ever taken this knows if it works at all, it stops working after a short period.
- That’s because supplementing Melatonin replaces the body’s normal production of it and interferes with normal sleep patterns.
- Sleep is a precise formulation of each precursor for Melatonin and Serotonin, providing the necessary balance for the body to produce Melatonin naturally and only when needed.
- Therefore, our sleep formulas will continue to work as a long-term solution to sleep.
What does Sleep taste like?:
- We do not include any artificial flavors, fillers, or preservatives in any of our products.
- Our Sleep formulas are minimally flavored with honey and lavender, both natural sleep aids.
- You may enjoy them as is or with the addition of extra honey or other organic flavoring.
What is the difference between Sleep & Sleep Plus?:
- Both formulas include the full complement of neurotransmitters, amino acids, co-factors, vitamins, and minerals to give the body everything it needs to produce your sleep hormones.
- The difference is, Sleep is used every day to replenish and balance these nutrients, while Sleep Plus includes Valeriana Officinalis, an herb known as, “Nature’s Xanax” for more of a “knockout” effect when things are extra stressful or overwhelming.
Why is there no melatonin?:
- Melatonin is the sleep hormone naturally produced by the body.
- Its release is activated in response to darkness and suppressed by light.
- Melatonin-based sleep formulas affect this natural process.
- For any sleep formula to work, long-term, it must supply the precursors for the body to build its own hormones.
- Any other method that interferes, will not prove effective over time.
- By giving your body the building blocks, you have a better sleep response by supporting the body’s natural function for producing Melatonin.
- That’s the driving force behind any formulation made at BONVIE.
- The body is made to do what it does naturally.
- Our mission is to support this and not suppress it.
Who can take Sleep?:
- Sleep is designed to be used by everyone.
- As with any supplement, you should consult your physician before taking it.
- Do not take it if you have any allergy to any of the ingredients.
