Skinuva® Scar+ SPF is a physician developed and clinically tested scar photoaging defense cream using highly selective growth factors with Zinc Oxide mineral sunscreen.
Skinuva Scar+ SPF has all the benefits of the original Skinuva Scar but with added non-nano Zinc Oxide for broad spectrum SPF 30 UVA/UVB protection. Skinuva Scar+ SPF has been specifically formulated for areas exposed to the sun such as the face, neck, and hands to minimize the darkening effects associated with sun exposure and help reduce the appearance of redness and hyperpigmentation.
Skinuva Scar+ SPF helps prevent sunburn in sun-exposed scars. If used as directed with other sun protection measures, Skinuva Scar+ SPF decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.
Skinuva Scar+ SPF comes in two sizes:
The 30 mL/1.0 oz Skinuva Scar+ SPF is ideal for smaller scars less than 6 inches in size, such as eyelid surgery scars, breast augmentation scars, or C-section scars.
The 15 mL/0.5 oz Skinuva Scar+ SPF is ideal for smaller scars less than 1 inch in size.

How does physical sunscreen differ from chemical sunscreen?
Physical sunscreens are mineral based (such as Zinc Oxide, found in Skinuva Scar+) and sit on the surface of your skin acting as a shield or reflective barrier on the skin’s surface, protecting the skin from the sun’s rays. Chemical sunscreens partially absorb in the skin and prevent UV damage through a chemical reaction.
What are the types of Zinc oxide found in sunscreen, and what is non-nano Zinc?
Zinc Oxide can be found in different particle sizes, and traditionally, the larger particle sizes would be effective but leave a pasty residue after application. However, smaller particle-based Zinc, such as nano-Zinc, although not clinically proven, can be potentially absorbed in the skin. Non-nano Zinc oxide is the recommended safe type of Zinc oxide, which is the type of Zinc found in Skinuva Scar+, and recent advancements in developing non-nano Zinc have tremendously reduced the pasty residue effect seen post application.
Why was Zinc Oxide used in Skinuva Scar+ SPF?
Zinc Oxide is very effective against both UVA and UVB rays, therefore it is a broad-spectrum blocker. It’s also very well tolerated on skin and safe for use in everyone, including child-bearing women and children.
Why was Skinuva Scar+ SPF developed?
We wanted to provide an all-in-one product for both scar management and as a safe and effective sunscreen, particularly for those sun-exposed scars on the face and other parts of the body. Skinuva Scar+ has the same clinically proven ingredients as Skinuva Scar along with non-nano Zinc Oxide sunscreen.
What are the benefits of Zinc Oxide?
Zinc oxide helps protect skin from sun damage by reflecting and absorbing UVA and UVB rays. Zinc has anti-inflammatory properties which can help skin that is undergoing healing. Zinc can control excess oil through its astringent properties when applied topically. It can help those with oily skin and help maintain the oil balance, which can help decrease the risk of acne breakouts.

What SPF rating does Skinuva Scar+ have?
Scar+ is an SPF 30. This means that it blocks nearly 98% of all UV radiation. In contrast, SPF 50 offers marginally better protection, blocking up to 98% of UV radiation. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher, and broad-spectrum UVA and UVB rays.
