About The BAD Tea Co.

OUR STORY Hi! We’re Elyse and Rohan. Co-founders, fiances, roommates, BADdies, the list goes on (we spend a lot of time together). Tea has been part of our lives since we were kids, and our familiarity & love of tea became a major reason why we didn’t think the current options quite cut it. Rohan is the son of Indian immigrants, and grew up surrounded by the aroma of chai spices - cardamom, clove, ginger, pepper. Elyse grew up in the south, where sweet tea is part of the culture. As we left home to go to school and start careers, we slowly forgot about tea and started drinking more coffee and energy drinks. The iced teas we saw didn’t have enough caffeine, had way too much sugar, or had boring flavors. We each found our way back to tea when we dealt with common health problems like anxiety and insomnia. We learned that teas are a great source of L-theanine, which can help to reduce stress and the issues we were dealing with. So, we started brewing our own. We loved the unique flavors of our teas, but like a lot of Americans, we needed more caffeine to get through our days. That’s how we came up with the idea for our company - teas with zesty flavors, extra caffeine and L-theanine, and BAD vibes.
