How to use

Precautions

Organic eucalyptus essential oil should never be applied directly to the skin. It is too high in concentration and can cause burning and irritation. To follow standard guidelines, add 15 drops of eucalyptus oil for every ounce of carrier oil before applying topically. Those with underlying health conditions, or who take prescription medications should consult with a doctor or health professional before using essential oils. Eucalyptus oil can be toxic when ingested, so only use externally and keep well away from children and pets.

Using Eucalyptus Essential Oil For Decongestion Purposes

Eucalyptus is famous for its ability to help soothe coughs and colds. Its main component, eucalyptol, is in many over-the-counter medications for cough suppression and cold relief. To use eucalyptus oil to the best effect we recommend two main methods of use:
Steam Inhalation: If you are feeling stuffed up with a cough or congestion, inhaling organic eucalyptus essential oil may provide some fast relief. You can add a few drops of oil to your bath or shower, or even use your sink. Fill it, or a large bowl, with hot, steaming water. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil, then place a towel over your head and neck, encasing yourself over the water. Take deep, slow breaths, keeping your eyes closed. Repeat as necessary.
Topical Application: To aid with decongestion, you can also apply organic eucalyptus essential oil topically, though it is necessary to dilute it first. To do this, add a few drops of the essential oil to an ounce of Carrier Oil. Then, massage into the chest and throat to help relieve symptoms of cough and cold.
