3.8k While the design of this piece was top of the line the condition was far from it. Clearly, it was time for a full restoration to bring this back to its former glory.
What I did:
- Â Glued down any loose veneer with @titebondwoodproducts wood glue
- Â Â Patched any missing veneer with salvaged vintage walnut veneer
- Filled any voids with @jbweldDIY 2 part epoxy putty tinted with mohawk powder stains
- Â Â Reglued the entire base
- Â Sanded the original finish off with @3Mabrasives Cubitron sanding pads
- Â Â Sealed the piece with @Zinsser Sealcoat
- Â Â Performed color touchups with @mohawkfinishing Blandals, powder stains, and graining pens
- Â Â Sprayed a light coat of toner (Zinsser sealcoat + Transtint medium brown dye)
- Â Topcoated the piece with @geminiindustries Evo clear Satin SheenClipsHome & Garden
